From the Peterkort Woods Board of Directors
Summer Pool Volunteers
Summer will soon be upon us. The pool historically opens the week of Memorial Day and closes the week after Labor Day.
We are in need of Resident Volunteers to manage the State and County pool guidelines. This year there are a few changes that will require the need for more volunteers than needed in the past. In the past we required only 1 water test every morning – starting this year 1 test every 4 hours from the initial test until closing, likely at 8am, 12pm, and 4pm.
The Board is not sure if it will be easier to tag team each day, or if it will be easier to have one volunteer handle open to close; it will likely be a combination of both.
The Board is looking for volunteers to train how to test the Chlorine and PH levels (we only test, we do not add chemicals) and how to do a light vacuum in the morning. The opening checklist with test / vacuum / organize furniture / takes about 45 minutes. It is anticipated that the other “4-hour checks” will take about 10 minutes plus your pool commute time.
The pool is open for 16 weeks so the more volunteers we have, the less each has to do. Due to people’s schedules, it is likely we will have some who can provide the “4-hour checks” but not open. We can be as flexible as we want as long as we get daily coverage.
We will be flexible with training dates and times to allow all volunteers to get trained, most likely in May.
Thanks for stepping up to help make this a fun summer at the pool for all!
Sincerely,
The Peterkort Woods Board of Directors
