PKW – 7.4 Party (1)

Pool safety and security

Our pool is for the exclusive use of PKW homeowners, their immediate family, their guests, and lessees with the rights of owners.

Legal users of the pool are expected to use their fob to enter one of the two pool gates.  They are also expected to wear or display  a bracelet provided by the HOA (contact TMG if you need one).

The HOA is hiring a weekend pool monitor for the remainder of the summer.  One of their responsibilities will be to verify that the people using the pool are those mentioned in the first paragraph.  Please make their job easier by showing the your fob and/or bracelet.

The pool is one of our community’s greatest assets as well as a potential liability.  Help protect it by reporting suspicious activity.

If you see someone using the pool that you don’t recognize and/or is not wearing a bracelet like yours, introduce yourself.  Politely ask them where the live.  If they are trespassing and refuse to leave, call the Washington County Sheriff’s Office (503-629-0111.

For further information on the use of the pool, please see:

Crime Prevention

In the past couple of weeks, our neighborhood has been the victim of several thefts.  Thieves have been taking furniture and planters from the front porches of our homes.

Although most crimes have occurred over night, in at least one case, the theft occurred in the middle of the day.

I would urge all homeowners to report every crime to the Washington County Sheriff, 503-629-0111. You can request a deputy in person or you can make a report over the phone.

There are a few steps we can take to protect ourselves.

  1. Turn on your front porch lights overnight.
  2. Cable or zip tie furniture and other easy to move objects.
  3. Consider a security camera (make sure to submit an ARC request first).
  4. Keep an eye on suspicious people.  Write down license plate numbers of suspicious vehicles.
  5. If you see a crime occurring, call 911.   Call 503-629-0111 for all non-urgent police matters.

A crime prevention specialist from the Washington County Sheriff’s will be at the Annual Homeowners’ Meeting on August 8th. If you have questions or are interested in starting a neighborhood watch, please attend.

Pool opening 2016

As of May 10th, 2016. 1000 am.

The HOA Board of Directors hired a company two months ago to re-plaster the pool with the goal of opening it by May 21st, one week before Memorial Day weekend.

The contractor has delayed several times, putting the pool opening date in jeopardy.  They still assure us that this goal will be met.

The Board is committed to having the pool open by May 21st.

Update: May 11th, 2016. 830 pm.

The contractor has cleaned the pool and prepared it for opening. They will return after the pool closes in September and finish the work.  It is currently being filled with water.

Update: May 17th, 2016. 1130 am.

The pool is filled and the chemicals are being balanced. The pool should be open on May 21st (This Saturday!).

Update: May 19th, 2016 1215 pm

There will be a party on Sunday afternoon, rain or shine.  Burgers and drinks will be provided. See Pool party post

Watch this space for updates.

Update:COMMUNITY CLEANUP DAY April 30th, 2016

More than 20 PKW residents participated in this year’s event.  The group broke up into four groups: wetlands cleanup, mailbox cleanup, picnic table assembly, and plantings.

Wetlands

A small group of volunteers  removed trash in the wetlands area to our north.  (They were careful not to disturb any wildlife.)

Mailboxes

Tape residue, algae, dirt, and other substances were removed from the community mailboxes.

Tables

There are now two new tables at the pool and one each at the two urban parks and the great lawn gazebo.

Planting

In cooperation with CleanWater Services, the Tualatin River Watershed Council donated 100 trees, shrubs, and plants to our HOA to be planted in the areas adjacent to the wetlands.  Our crew planted 70 of these along Johnson Creek in the Merrit Woods Natural Area.

Lunch

Lunch was served afterwards at the Clubhouse.

A special thanks to Sunrise Bagels (10902 SW Barnes Rd) for providing the sandwiches!

Original post: Help cleanup and beautify the areas surrounding our wonderful community.

We’ll break into teams and tackle several different areas such as:

Prepare ground and Plant NW Natives in selected areas of the community.

Clean Mailboxes, and TBD odd jobs within Peterkort.

Wetlands and surrounding neighborhood  trash collection.
We’ll meet at the Clubhouse at 10am for assignments and work together till noon. Lunch will be provided at the Clubhouse.
We will have basic supplies on hand such as garbage bags but please bring your own gloves if desired.
Lunch and T-shirts will be provided! To help defray the costs, please bring $5/person.

Please RSVP by April 11th so we can get a count for lunch, T-shirts, and hats. When signing up, if you have a shirt from last year, let us know! Otherwise, please indicate what size t-shirt to order or if you would prefer a baseball hat.

Ladies Luncheon

Saturday, March 12th

11:00am – 1:00pm

Champagne, Chocolate, and More

Ladies Luncheon to Welcome New Neighbors and Catch Up With Those We Know

There are 3 ways to contribute:

–  BE THERE…those who attended the event last year enjoyed good food and conversation.

–  BRING A DISH…only if you would like to. There is always enough food and drink. Getting to know our neighbors is the goal.

–  SHARE…in the planning of Spring and Summer community events.  A social COMMUNITY can accomplish much more than a Social Committee.

If you aren’t able to attend but are willing to help with an event, or welcome new Residents, please contact Dominica or Mandi at TMG (dominica.culver@tmgnortwest.com  ormandi.presler@tmgnorthwest.com) and your name will be passed to the Social Committee.

Thank you,

The Peterkort Woods Social Committee
