Update: COMMUNITY CLEANUP DAY APRIL 22nd, 2017

Update April 25, 2017: We had our annual cleanup day this past Saturday.  28 PKW residents helped with: garbage pickup, mailbox cleaning, cleaning walls inside the clubhouse, breaking up pallets and power washing (behind clubhouse), and some gardening.

Original post: More than 20 PKW residents participated in last year’s event.  The group broke up into four groups: wetlands cleanup, mailbox cleanup, picnic table assembly, and plantings.

Help cleanup and beautify the areas surrounding our wonderful community.

We’ll break into teams and tackle several different areas in the community.
We’ll meet at the Clubhouse at 10am for assignments and work together till noon. Lunch will be provided at the Clubhouse.
We will have basic supplies on hand such as garbage bags but please bring your own gloves if desired.

If you have a t-shirt from a past clean-up day, wear it.  If you need a t-shirt, fill out a contact form ASAP and include your size.

Please RSVP by April 5th so we can get a count for lunch.

Invitation to volunteer

My name is Marilyn Gray and I live here in Peterkort Woods.  I am involved in the West TV Elementary School’s volunteer program.  I would like to invite and encourage anyone in our neighborhood who might like to explore the many and varying volunteer opportunities at the school to contact me.  If I have some interest, I will invite a seasoned volunteer from the school to an informal informational meeting to share the possibilities.  Even if you have ½ an hour a week to donate, there is no better way to invest in the future than by mentoring a child or supporting a child’s teacher!

Thank you

PKW – 7.4 Party (1)

Pool safety and security

Our pool is for the exclusive use of PKW homeowners, their immediate family, their guests, and lessees with the rights of owners.

Legal users of the pool are expected to use their fob to enter one of the two pool gates.  They are also expected to wear or display  a bracelet provided by the HOA (contact TMG if you need one).

The HOA is hiring a weekend pool monitor for the remainder of the summer.  One of their responsibilities will be to verify that the people using the pool are those mentioned in the first paragraph.  Please make their job easier by showing the your fob and/or bracelet.

The pool is one of our community’s greatest assets as well as a potential liability.  Help protect it by reporting suspicious activity.

If you see someone using the pool that you don’t recognize and/or is not wearing a bracelet like yours, introduce yourself.  Politely ask them where the live.  If they are trespassing and refuse to leave, call the Washington County Sheriff’s Office (503-629-0111.

For further information on the use of the pool, please see:

Crime Prevention

In the past couple of weeks, our neighborhood has been the victim of several thefts.  Thieves have been taking furniture and planters from the front porches of our homes.

Although most crimes have occurred over night, in at least one case, the theft occurred in the middle of the day.

I would urge all homeowners to report every crime to the Washington County Sheriff, 503-629-0111. You can request a deputy in person or you can make a report over the phone.

There are a few steps we can take to protect ourselves.

  1. Turn on your front porch lights overnight.
  2. Cable or zip tie furniture and other easy to move objects.
  3. Consider a security camera (make sure to submit an ARC request first).
  4. Keep an eye on suspicious people.  Write down license plate numbers of suspicious vehicles.
  5. If you see a crime occurring, call 911.   Call 503-629-0111 for all non-urgent police matters.

A crime prevention specialist from the Washington County Sheriff’s will be at the Annual Homeowners’ Meeting on August 8th. If you have questions or are interested in starting a neighborhood watch, please attend.
